Fourth Day Witness

As a member of the 4th Day Committee for Cursillo, whose mission is to offer Cursillistas creative ways to continue on their journey with Christ, I’ve been observing the way the own spiritual journey is progressing.  I’ve noticed some interesting similarities in what I perceive as my secular journey and my spiritual one.

With regard to my secular journey, as I get older, it takes me longer to understand new ideas or processes.  Once I’m convinced it’s something I want to know, I have to read or listen or watch many times before it all begins to make sense.  Then, I have to repeat what I know to people who might be interested in the same thing.  And, finally, I want to continue to grow in knowledge.

This is exactly what I believe our 4th Day Journey should be like.  We need to be open to new ways to enrich our life of Grace.  No matter how many times we have to hear something new in order to apply it to our life, it’s worth it in fostering our relationship with Christ.  I think about my own Group Reunion and reading the up-coming Sunday Scriptures each week.  When I hear them again on Sunday, I often come away with new and different interpretations; other ideas that might challenge my thinking.

Sharing our life in Christ with people in our Groups, I believe, is essential, especially if we happen to be going through spiritual dry spells.  It is in Group that we will hear, through the sharing, how God is working in other people’s lives, and that He is always working in ours – whether we can sense it or not.

And finally, and this is where the 4th Day Committee comes in, we need to continue to look for new and different ways to keep our life in Christ exciting and enriching.  If you’re not in a Group Reunion right now, try to find one.  Talk with the person who sponsored you, or call me and I’ll help you.  Three or four times a year, we sponsor Dioceasan Ultreyas, where Group Reunions gather together to share their piety, study and action, enjoy old friends while making new ones, listen to great music, and, of course, share food.  Make time to join us.  Watch the Banner for dates of up-coming Evenings/Days of Reflection in different parts of the Diocese.  And continue, always, to pray!
