Suggestions for writing a Witness for
publication
A witness is a public profession. In the Cursillo,
witnessing includes talks at Group Reunion, Ultreyas, on Team, on Weekends, etc.
Some witness requires more preparation than others. For
articles published in His Banner and the website, please use these
do's and don'ts as basic guidelines.
Do:
-
make it a first person account: The words 'I' and 'we'
should appear
-
report on an action: what the Lord and I (we) are
doing
-
relate it to the Cursillo experience
-
write as if you were talking to a friend
-
use active voice where possible
-
explain the "obvious"
Don't:
-
dwell on one-of-a-kind experiences that no one else
can duplicate
-
preach, give advice, etc.
-
use 'churchy code-words', flowery language, etc.
-
underestimate yourself
-
worry about telling us something we already know
-
invest any time with special formatting
Our preferred form of receiving documents is Word for
Windows, but we can read just about anything.
